Larry hasn't invited me over:). He is quite the dude though -- major attitude towards Bill Gates, his mission in life is to bring down Mr. Softee, with whatever works - even if it goes beyond his Company's expertise or arena of operations (like recently, with the sub-$500 PC initiative which he spearheaded). He gets an A+ for scrappiness. For jollies, he nearly won a major yacht race in the South Pacific recently, his boat was one that survived that storm (many didn't) and he came back with harrowing tales. He is the local late-night bad-boy with his Lear Jet, frequently ticking off half of San Jose by flying in late and low, after curfew hours. He has a lot of fun but a mean side too (for a Billionare): a woman he had a relationship with "at the office" then broke up with, sued him for sexual harrassment, and won the case for like $100k. He pushed the D.A. to find more evidence, which proved her charges to be undisputably false/fabricated, including evidence which proved clearly that a critical peice of evidence, an email between him and her was phony. The judgement was reversed, and Ellison pushed to have her prosecuted, fined, and sent to prison where she still resides. No grudges there, nuh-ah. The half-live of being a VP at Oracle is measured in Ellison-minutes...
Pretty intense guy. Oh, the house - he's into Japanese culture / art objects in the yard for tens of millions, and he's world-class into weightlifting (probably to impress his dates; Sharon Stone took him for a whirl, not too long ago before getting married). And of course (a low-intensity hobby) flying aerobatics in his old Russian MIG fighter jet. Just your average Silicon Valley Billionaire bachelor... <G>
