I've already read this. But the fact is, AT&T can't do much harm to Excite@Home until the exclusivity agreement expires in 2002. What will be sub number in that year, 5 million?
And ATHM's cable networks will have become matured. Does it make sense for ATT to bypass ATHM and go with AOL? And what about Excite's content? Probably gets much better with so far unpredictable killer apps. The bottom line is, ATT can't do much negotiation with AOL until 3 years later. Even if by that time, E@H will be a force to be reckoned with. ATT can't dictate ATHM unless all of the other partners go with AT&T.
