Taiwan Semicon Mfg July Sales Up 117% On Yr At NT$6.59B

TAIPEI -- Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.'s (TSM) sales surged 117% in July to a record NT$6.59 billion (US$1=NT$32.129) from NT$3.03 billion a year previously, the world's largest pure chip foundry said in a press release on Monday.

Month-on-month, sales were up 15% from June levels, it added.

TSMC said its capacity was fully utilized last month amid continued growth in the chip market.

Accumulated sales for January-July, meanwhile, amounted to NT$36.32 billion, up 19.6% from NT$30.37 billion during the same seven-month period in 1998, according to the release.

Most listed companies are required to disclose their July sales figures by Aug. 10.
