Jim Shiau has made a very interesting observation that these major box makers will be benefited by the coming new CPUs selection and the unavoidable CPU price war since Intel has to raise the OEM discount to keep them at the bay.

As to my claims of "Intel is a technology loser", please clip my ID to find my reasons if you are interested. Keep in mind, technology is much more determining factor for profitability than the manufacture capacity in hi-tech business.

As to GATE and DELL, both of them will have fewer selections for customers (for not using AMD-Cyrix chips). By sticking with Intel, their CPU costs will be higher than their competitors who adapt AMD-Cyrix CPUs. If Intel has the fastest MPU, they should be OK. Unfortunately for them, Intel Pentium II might lose big time to both of AMD K6 and Cyrix M2.
