I think that cable access is the future. DSL is nice, but has quite a few limitations, which have been discussed on this thread and elsewhere. Cable has limitations too, but the potential for technological improvement is very great, and the potential for cable to be the gold standard is within grasp. Once the public decides, through the subtle promotions by AOL, T, and the media, that cable is what they need, and everything else is third world stuff, then T will regain their monopoly. And AOL will supply content to the masses, and supply them with goods to buy off the net, their music, their phone calls, and their movies.
Probably why MSFT is running scared, and making ineffectual noises about free access.
Great scenario for T and AOL, and right for deep strategists like Armstrong and Case& Pittman.
