Aug. 9, 1999--

REALnewsnet.com to Provide Video News Programming
Using REALmagic DVD Decoder Card

Sigma Designs, Inc. (Nasdaq:SIGM), a recognized leader in
digital video solutions for commercial applications, and
REALnewsnet.com, an on-demand video clip service, today announced an
agreement to provide video news stories using REALmagic DVD decoder
cards to TV station news rooms across the country.
News organizations will be able to download video news stories by
logging on to the REALnewsnet.com web site. The site will provide a
continuous source of fresh video not found on traditional news feeds.
Such "filler" video is geared to hold viewers' interest throughout the
news block of multiple programming slots.
In addition to a variety of amazing events and celebrity
sightings, REALnewsnet.com will also provide a "Clip of the Day," the
very best video story gathered from a network of stringers around the
country. Finally, REALnewsnet.com will provide one-minute pre-produced
segments for television. The segments include titles such as RNN's
Gossip Minute, RNN's Entertainment Minute, RNN's Urban Best, and RNN's
Country Mile. Archived video clips and still photography are also
available.
TV station news staff can click onto the REALnewsnet.com web site
and preview material. When they like what they see, they simply click
the "buy video" button to download the news segment. The first time a
particular news staffer downloads a video segment, they will also
purchase a REALmagic DVD decoder card from the web site to decode the
video at professional quality suitable for commercial broadcasting. As
soon as the REALmagic card is installed in the customer's PC, he or
she can play back and broadcast any video purchased from the
REALnewsnet web site.
"We understand how jammed the news day becomes," said Jan
Richards, News Director for REALnewsnet.com. "We've created a
customized site to enable a quick and easy way to provide zany,
engaging video clips that will ease the news producer's daily
headache. Sigma's award-winning reputation for digital video decoding
has given us a reliable technology for assuring that our customers
receive the broadcast quality they expect."
"We're thrilled to be working with REALnewsnet.com to deliver
topnotch video to TV news rooms," stated William K. Wong, Sigma's vice
president of marketing. "This agreement further extends Sigma's
digital video leadership by enabling numerous news producers to
experience a high-quality broadband application."
