Yo no se! Voice is still a medium, until we evolve into communicating telepathically, will always be favored. I personally hate typing.........

Truth be known, third world coutnries when given the oppurtunity will yack all day long into a phone. The spokenword is still a formidable form of expounding one's thoughts and opinions. One emotions, emphatic opinions are better understood and clearly evented spoken, where it may not come across in the written word. How many times do folks misread a message, but with the spoken word there isn't necessarily any misunderstanding (talking to under 16 excluded)? Ever try to follow an opera by reading the words and trying to follow the story on the stage. It just isn't as much fun unless you are following the words as sung by the performers. Better yet a movie with subcaptions detract from the visual expierence on the screen.

So is it a "threat" to QCOM? I suppose if momentum investors view it as such and bail. Wireless is still a preferred method of deploying communications in poorer countries with limited budgets. The threat would be if MMDS catches on as a alternative for high bandwidth use and within the next year. That could potentially eat into mobiles attempts to get into high speed delivery which has a limit to it ability due to limited B/W. Gauging what the consumer wants and is satisfied with, is never easy to figure. The dynamics change rapidly, as does technology, and sometimes without any warning.
