I really don't think you can compare a B2B vendor like E-Chemicals to a B2C vendor like Amazon, any more than you can compare Dow and Barnes and Noble. Someone spending $2 billion to build a semiconductor manufacturing plant simply does not make decisions in the same way as someone buying a $15 book.

You might want to look at the B2B studies again. I suspect you'll find that estimates of the total B2B market most certainly do include "selling a product or service to another business."

Edited: I looked it up. The ICGE prospectus uses Forrester Research's definition of B2B e-commerce: "The intracompany trade of hard goods over the Internet."
