In a way NYT may be quizzing the same "sources close to the company" who leaked a lot to Businessweek and which Busineeweek exercised with interpretive license. NYT is substantially more disciplined. News items like these are not released by loose cannons on a vendetta. I believe the "sources" is part of a finely orchestrated release process to train the public to expect that XCIT is gone. Att may have the wrong idea when it thinks of ATHM as a doormat ISP, but it is right about XCIT.
