Kulicke & Soffa Receives $20 Million Order For Automatic Wire Bonders and Dicing Systems
WILLOW GROVE, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 9, 1999--Kulicke & Soffa Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ:KLIC - news) today announced that Advanced Semiconductor Engineering, Inc. (ASE), a leading multinational semiconductor assembly subcontractor, has placed an order valued at $20 million for K&S Model 8028 ball bonders and Model 7500 dicing systems.
The machines, which will be used for production of high lead count plastic ball grid array (PBGA) devices, will ship during the September and December quarters to ASE's Kaohsiung, Taiwan, production facility.
''K&S Model 8028 wire bonders offer excellent throughput, flexibility and process capability,'' said ASE General Manager K.J. Chin. ''In an extensive evaluation, the 8028 provided the best performance in meeting our PBGA assembly requirements.''
''This is the largest order to date for our new 8028 ball bonder platform, which we introduced this past April,'' said K&S Vice President and General Manager Dave Leonhardt.
