EGHT-N, I believe there is some minor degradation of the components of the fuel cell due to the high heat conditions that it runs under. However, if I recall correctly, the technical articles you are referring back to concentrated mainly on the major problem being contamination of the cell by CO (carbon monoxide). That contamination is so severe that it not only degrades the PEM cell but actually renders it useless.

From GLE's web-site (see second last paragraph of this section) ...

"Carbon monoxide, a contaminant in the PEM systems is a fuel for the SOFC."

In other words, CO (carbon monoxide) is NOT a problem for the GLE SOFC.
