Qualcomm's Digital Cinema . . . The latest special issue of Wide Gauge Film & Video has a brief interview with CineComm's Chief Technical Officer (and founder), Russell J. Wintner. He said that reports in the press that CineComm was a joint venture of Qualcomm and Hughes-JVC were not correct. He said that Hughes-JVC is just an equipment vendor to CineComm, and that since the recent demo showings of The Phantom Menace, they are now taking a good look at the Texas Instrument system, as many industry expert felt that it was superior.
