i add my voice to those who vote to keep the original SI functionality intact.

IMO, if they can preserve the current SI functions we've come to depend upon and incorporate them unharmed into the new SI, then I'd be amenable to a transition to the "new" SI format. Otherwise, I'll look elsewhere for my interactions.
