Questions over L'Affair Ellison.
1) There's been suprisingly little *public* reaction from those who'd be most affected by his getting his hand on the family jewels (the MacOS/Rhapsody); software developers, clonemakers, IBM, MOT, etc. Has anybody heard anything on this?
2) If Ellison's big idea is the NC computer, why doesn't he just structure a licensing deal for the Newton OS? It would seem to fit all his criteria and be portable as well. One thousand applications, multi-platform, net-capable, cheap. Anybody know of the state of negotiations between AAPL and ORCL on this, or other, issues?
3) Ellison's been making noises for years about buying AAPL. He uses a a Mac himself. Is he that enamored over System 7 that he objects to Rhapsody being introduced? Or if he agrees that NeXT/Rhapsody is the answer, why didn't HE buy NeXT (or at least invest in the company) years ago?
4) Does Ellison have any background/history selling to a consumer market? Working with outside developers? Has he made any public utterances about what he would *do* with AAPL that's different from what's happening now?
