Vendit and thread, the key question to the NY TImes AOL/T issues article: will T, which controls 58% of Excite, spin off this content provider, stripping ATHM of its sticky portal assets and do a deal with AOL wherein AOL becomes the start page for all internet service thru AT&T cables? Needless, to say, this would be nice for AOL, and possibly advantageous to T as well.
THe answer to this question depends on: how good is ATHM's start page? What kind of content and user frienldy connections do they provide? Is it wholly what Excite has cobbled together or does ATHm have a content page that rivals AOL. IF ATHM, as content provider, does not rival AOL, then maybe T would prefer to partner with the best? Comments from all welcome.
