Makes sense Bobby...

The only problem is that despots come to power during periods of economic and political turmoil by promising social and economic order.

The only thing that shakes their grip on power is an all-out revolution (which usually results in a new despot taking power) or an economy that is sound enough that they develop a middle class with the resources and political will to force positive change and an end to their despotism.

The proof of this is that almost every, if not all, economically prosperous nations have democratic governments.
