The links show the systems used a single PC100 128MB DIMM.

As far as L2 cache, I guess AMD could have said something. All Athlons reviewed at other websites have had 512K L2 cache running at half speed.

"In addition, the Xeon scores posted are not the best ones reported on the official SPEC website. They are 3.3% below the actual best scores."

So add 3.3% to the Xeon scores. The Xeon is still slower than the Athlon. You can even add 33% to the Xeon score in specfp and it will still be slower than the Athlon.

"So, the Athlon numbers are in fact reported for the first time as you point out, but they are from an what AMD admits is an unavailable motherboard, and they are compared against an Intel system that is not the best in it's class. Not honest reporting in my view. When honest benchmarks are posted from available MIA-thlon systems then we can compare."

There is a relatively new song out right now and I think the chorus line fits you perfectly - "With these birds I share this lonely view."

"ALL BENCHMARKS ARE FROM MOTHERBOARDS AMD ADMITS ARE NOT COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE!!"

So don't look at the Spec benchmarks...

If you don't want to believe benchmarks done on a non-commercially available motherboard, you can read the one website which has an Athlon review done on a MSI motherboard, I believe.
