There's a simple reason why there has been little * public * reaction. Steve Jobs is correct. This is a ridiculous soap opera that is beneath most folk's comfort level. Imagine if some daft rich uncle came out with a proposal to depose you as the head of your own family. You'd be squirmingly embarrassed and basically would ignore the whole thing in the vain hope that it is only a dream. On the other hand, the "bid" values AAPL at around $6 a share plus some equity. At this point that is WAY to * high * IMHO.
