FWIW, the August S & P Investor's Monthly lists ALK as an attractive takeover candidate in a list of stocks labeled "good fundamentals with speculative kicker." About ALK it says: "Airline's unique north-south route structure makes it a key link for several connecting carriers. Alaska Air would have particular appeal to UAL, since it would help UAL to strengthen its presence on the West Coast." jes
