We aren't there yet, but the end may be in sight. The key to answering this question
will not be the forthcoming earnings from the emerging growth sector, but the market's reaction to those earnings. I am confident that the companies that Van Wagoner invests in will continue to report strong earnings. The question is one of market psychology and how long it will take that to turn around. It's not a question of "if" but "when" this change will take place.

The truth is that no-one can predict the timing of the turnaround in the growth sector and to discuss such a question may serve to ease our worries in the short-term, but it's really such a waste of time.

It much more important that you ask yourself, What is the minimum period of time that I am investing for? Keep in mind the following guidelines: Short-Term = less than 5 years. Medium-Term = 5 - 10 years. Long-Term = more than 10 years.

Armed with this knowledge, you should feel comfortable in holding or even adding
to your stricken aggressive growth fund holdings with a view to re-balancing your portfolio when they rebound and become an overweight position.
