[Wirbel on DSL]

Salim --

Great find! And by Wirbel who can be trusted.

<<<Amati did not wait for CopperGold, instead turning to both NEC Electronics Inc. for DSP ASICs, and Texas Instruments Inc. for the 320C6x DSP processor, in order to reduce costs for ADSL as quickly as possible. U.S. Robotics, now backed with 3Com money, plans to take an entirely proprietary route to developing DSP chips for all relevant DSL standards.>>>

What do you think "U.S. Robotics . . . plans to take an entirely proprietary route to developing DSP chips for all relevant DSL standards," means???? They're using TI's chips, so what does "all relevant DSL standards" mean? Are they talking line code standards, as in DMT vs. CAP? Or is the key word "relevant?" And if so, what does it mean? How does a standard become "relevant?"

I need help with this one.

Cheers!

Pat
