I agree with your post. However, I have an additional problem, in that I see the current SI users as maybe 1/3 of the clientele for this site. I know from reading here that most don't view the SI universe that way... they feel the current user community is all that matters. I think the current users matter, as do the R&D team (another 1/3), I include them for maintainability reasons, and the final third are "new members".

So, assuming all the "what the users want" statements were backed up with facts, say a petition or something, it still would not represent everybody at least to me.
