Jocko--By other posts I know we're in some of the same stocks elsewhere and I'm not trying to give you a hard time here. I do remember the part about the "other" majors, and the official reasons for going with Kinross. They may have been perfectly valid, but of course outsiders were never privy to any details. In any case, I'd still like somebody to answer my questions ie. why negotiating a deal with no cash involved, when management knew that the exploration program was going on for years, was such a great achievement? To me it still appears very self-serving or just plain short-sighted-dumb. And the other question was, if MIQ is such a steal right now, why aren't the shares being picked up by those in the know. For that matter, why hasn't Kinross made any overtures into acquiring MIQ? After all, capitalized at today's stock price, MIQ has a worth of about $2.5 million (USD), which is just a fraction of the amount being spent on exploration. Why would Kinross settle for just half of the pie if the prospects are so great?
I've been following MIQ for a long time now but never bought in because these questions bothered me. I empathize with with those that did get at the higher prices because I hold a few of those kind of stocks myself. Nevertheless, I'm still looking to buy in, but only after my market-tempered skepticism has been dispelled by some good arguments. |
