I'm just trying to figure out if its the winning team :) As I understand it --- and most of the technical details are beyond my ken --- there's no comparison between Ascend's GX 550 and NN's 50/320 (I don't know marketing name). From a friend deep inside one of NN's major accounts, I've been told the price per port is "absolutely amazing" --- less than 1/3 the existing 12.8 system and once it's out (in preferred customer accts by Nov. 1), the backbone will all go to 50 gig. Their solutions are based on IBM's switch fabric (Prisma?)and gaining lots of attention. NN also has another new product that I don't understand in the least but I'm told it will change the access architecture once it's released. While I don't understand all the engineering details, I do understand the responses from carriers --- and this from friends on the carrier side, not within NN. I'm glad we're on the same team. :) Pat
