Better information may have been a bad choice of words. I assume that they performed more in depth due diligence, like visiting the NI plant, investigating patent portfolios, discussions with senior management, etc. I assumed that you would understand my meaning.

To answer your question, yes it is possible to (legally) have better information than the next guy, all you have to do is work harder and dig deeper and have the intellectual capabilities to understand what you find or don't find...
