WSJ Article

Paul, Thanks for the WSJ article. I read the overall numbers on the CEMA site
but am questioning the CE OEM numbers from NPD. First, this was the first article I ever read that did not have Thomson as the US market leader in overall TV sales. It gives no mention of the ProScan or GE brands.

You are correct to distinguish the penetration rate from the overall growth rate, similar to VCR+ in that respect. I am waiting for the CC tomorrow to get a better handle on the Guide Plus+ platform. My moving average estimates have this platform at 30,000 units per weeks at this time. If you take the forecasted 2 million (2nd Generation) Gemstar enabled TV models to be sold this year you will come up with 40,000 units/week. I may be ahead of the curve and look forward to the numbers for better clarity. Like you I have owned Gemstar for a short time (2 years approx) and I believe that in another short period we will see 100,000 TV units w/guide sold per week.

Regards
Stew
