Kirk got rid of a Q (Trelane) in the first season. Picard mishandled Q so badly that Q made the Borg aware of the Federation hundreds of years sooner than they would have known, thanks to the bumbling, fumbling, tea-guzzling incompetent Picard. But then, Starfleet is to blame too. They never should have promoted Picard past the rank of Ensign. He would have just been just fine as that, sweeping floors in Engineering. The Cardassians are a joke. They were only lucky they didn't have to deal with Kirk.
