More Link Problems

On page 12 of the MetaStock User's manual it describes the technique for copying a column of manipulated data from an Excel Spreadsheet to a MS Chart. In that process, it tells one to copy the entire column buy clicking on the column head. Switching back to MS, one clicks on the chart and Paste Special links it to the Spreadsheet.

Only one thing, it doesn't seem to work. When one clicks the column head one selects the entire column; that includes the blank cells at the end of the column (64000 of them).

If I have a manipulation I want to work on some figures in a chart (for example, Volume divided by Price), in order for that calculation to be performed every day, that formula needs to be in each cell of the column. (Correct?) That being the case, the formula, when calculating the values of days in the future (the blank cells that follow the last date of the database), arrives at zero. But the MS program appears to be locating the last occupied cell in a column to calculate the values for the last day in the chart. So, because it is going to cell 64000, one ends up with a flat line. The only way I have found to get a chart is to delete the zero values past the current date. And this leaves me with a chart that doesn't update.

Any help out there?
