Ron-

We should not tolerate either France or Israel attempting to steal our nuclear secrets. I presume George Bush made that point to the Israelis. But you did not answer the question I put before you. Seems to be a specialty on this thread.

<<Considering that we used SIGINT/ELINT to eavesdrop on rocket telemetry,>>
And as I'm sure you are aware, this is done by mutual consent. Neither the Russkies nor us encrypt telemetry data during missle tests, just to make it easier for the other guy to keep tabs on what's happening. (I don't know that's still true, but I believe it was true at one time).

<<All of that WMD data was on a government computer system which is little different a medium of information exchange than a fax machine. Just discussing such information over a non-secure line is a security risk.>>
What is your point? In fact, what does your first sentence mean??

<<We should more worried about the Chinese, instead of a Kleptocratic regime of local power brokers and mafia bosses who are in control of some 30,000 nuclear weapons in Russia?? >>

Yeah, nukes in the hands of Russian mobsters- who may be peddling them to the Taliban- is a scary thought. In no way does it make giving away nuclear secrets to the PRC any more palatable. You logic is deficient- why are you trying to deflect attention from a very serious security issue??

I think what most bothered me about your post- and why I jumped on you- is your failure to recognize a very important difference between picking up communications information and giving the PRC the secrets to "neutron bombs". It makes me wonder what kind of agenda you are pushing (rabble rousing Larry???). Yeah, rummaging through peoples electronic mail and infiltrating nuclear weapons labs are both "spying". Their net effect can be disastrously different. I expect you to recognize that reality, but so far I have been disappointed.

Larry

P.S. To quote the late S.I. Haykawa, "To a mouse, cheese is cheese- that's why mousetraps work." That's the mentality behind lumping all "spying" in the same category.

P.P.S I'm glad you're feeling better now.
