Hi Joe,

The sag mill does not eliminate the crushing circuit.
The sag mill( semi-autogenous grind ) is needed to break down
the gummy like masses of oxide ores that stick to the crushing unit when the ore is fed through( Kinda like gum when stuck to your hair ) which in turn slows the process as it inhibits the crushing circuit from performing properly. This mill is separate from the main mill and I believe it is used to rectify the problems that are encountered with these sticky ores. I think the sag mill uses balls to break down these ores? The Sag mill should decrease costs and improve production output as the mill can operate with minimal interruptions. This should eliminate the stopping and starting of the mill.
They want the mill to keep churnin' and so do we!!( Time is money )
Please, anybody, correct me if I'm wrong!
