Goood question.

I'm glad I went through my excerise of attempting to make a fake Yahoo!-like ID. Put some concerns to rest(no mass Yahoo-like invasion) and raised new ones (copyright).

I suppose one could create another ID @ a different IP address, say @ work, and as long as they used it exclusively @ that location, SI would be none the wiser.

Note - I do not condone this action nor have I partaken in said action.
