All,
It's been a busy day here at Go2Net, so I had to save my post participation until after I got all of the kiddies to bed. However, I hope that many of you will be pleasantly surprised in the morning when you read what I have to say...
  Per my earlier post...

We have been exploring an option that would essentially allow members to mimic the old SI user interface within the StockTalk area via a customization option. Our exploration has been fruitful, and we are reasonably confident that we have a solution that will work. I want to set expectations up front, so I have a couple of comments and then a request.
Comment #1 - The idea is to create a custom option whereby members can select the "Classic SI" format for the StockTalk section. Members who select this option would get a UI that matches the old SI as closely as possible. The goal will be an exact match, but we won't be able to 100%, exactly, totally, completely match the old SI, i.e. some features don't exist or just don't work the same way with the new infrastructure.
Comment #2 - This is not a trivial task, so we'd appreciate a little patience. I don't have exact date yet, so I won't promise one. But...we won't take down the old SI until this customization option is up and running.
Comment #3 - The neat thing about this implementation is that since it'll be running on our new "platform", we can't forsee any reason why it couldn't be maintained indefinitely. (Or, at least until Cheeky starts using the new SI - okay...indefinitely <g>).
  And, now for my request...
Someone on this thread suggested the idea of a small "member representative" team (my term, I don't remember the term that was used before). With respect to this Classic SI Customization Option, it would be great if we could have a handful of volunteers to help ensure that we get it right.
To stay manageable and efficient, it needs to be a relatively small team (I'm thinking that 5 or 6 sounds about right). The "duties" of this team would primarily involve reviewing screen shots and responding with input about certain design issues...and choices. I would not expect it to be an overly taxing responsibility in terms of time (certainly no more than many of you are already spending on this thread.)
So, I'd like to solicit 5 or 6 volunteers - as well as the opinions of everyone here as to who would be most representative "Guardians of the Classic SI".
I'll start it off with my list of suggested candidates...

Oh, and Cheeky, I guess <g>
These are just my suggestions, and it's only a request, not a demand, of course. However, if we're going to have this team, we need to assemble it quickly, so please throw in your $0.02 - or step up to the plate yourself.
  Thanks,
  Bryan
PS: A little help spreading the word about this would be appreciated as well. Thanks. |
