Howdy Brian, Chill out! Nostradamus is a fancy moniker. After all - it is your favorite AOL who nurtured the use of screen names. To put it in your words, I just let my creative juices run amock! As you have noticed, clearly I am not a big fan of AOL the company and AOL the stock. OK, my prophecies are, a sort of goofy! I do not know why others discontinued AOL service, but the two times (once in 1994 and once in 1996) I seriously considered switcing to AOL, I found these things: (a) I never got the connection when I wanted; (b) when I did get the connection it was very slow (compared to prodigy and compuserve - both I used;) (c) absolutely poor quality of news and BB participation. AOL MF B. boards have rarely, if any, good posters. Most of them are a bunch of yahoos and literally brain dead hypesters with no substace or what so ever. Let us talk about the AOL, the stock. I don't trust the management. period. First they tried to convince us that they are making profit. Now, that they realized that they earned certain amount of distrust among some investors, they say - OK here is the write off, now treat-us like the media/cable companies. If one looks at their balance sheet it is hard to think of it as an investment - especially since they don't have a monopoly in on-line services. When lousy balance sheet is combined with a management that has questionnable integrity, that stock is not for me. You may want to know - I am not short nor do I have puts on AOL. I am seriously considering buying some puts this monday. -Nostradamus
