I agree with you. Although diversification is tempting, and always sounds great, very few companies have been able to effectively accomplish this (DuPont and US Steel moves into oil, for example). "All your eggs in one basket" seems risky, but "the devil you know..." may be less so. If you can get (and keep) a dominant position in a growing market, that is the historically safest course.
