lws, I suggest that you also look at the following charts: bigcharts.com On the side bar, select in the lower indicator one of the following three (you should really look at the behavior of all three indicators), Volume accumulation, Money flow and On Balance Volume (OBV). These give more direct measures of "accumulation/distribution" patterns. Good indication of an impending change may be (it does not work all the time, nothing really "work" all the time) divergence between the different pattern, particularly when OBV starts to move up while the other two are still negative and moving down.
