SInce the discussion continues, I want to throw out my two cents on the topic of flirtation and sexual innuendo. THey're fun. I have a longstanding online semi-flirtation, as everyone here knows, with Thomas, though it isn't particularly sexual. However, I would guess that some might find our playing tedious and hit the next button. We do keep it at DAR where no one can object! ANd maybe you would be better off at Beltane with this particular posting exchange where that IS the accepted behavior. What you were doing seemed to me to border on a very intimate sexual act between you and Edwarda, that we should not be, or have to be, privy to. I don't have any objections if you and Edwarda want to have a cyber affair at all; I just don't want to watch it take place.
This is hardly a prim and proper thread. Never has been. FLirtation has always gone on. Amazing and wild sexual topics have been explored. It was the nature of what was going on that some found embarrassing. (ANd I admit I was one of them, but I did as you suggested and just left the thread). I think you are trying to categorize your "actions" which were heading toward a pretty definite implied conclusion, with mild flirtation, or sexual wordplay, or a witty off color remark, and I disagree. And now you bring up the SHakespeare quote about Ovid, as if the thread were attempting to banish any and all fun of that type when actually Feelings has always been a very sexual thread in many ways. What it isn't, and why I think many of the non-Beltane participants were feeling uncomfortable, is a stage for a one-on-one seduction and sex act. I think that's all the objectors were trying to get across. |
