Forget about the astrologer. Beige Book report is out & it's good. Inflation in check:

Only scattered U.S. wage gains, inflation mute-Fed

WASHINGTON, Aug 11 (Reuters) -" Less than two weeks ahead of a key meeting to discuss a possible interest-rate rise, the U.S. Federal Reserve on Wednesday said it saw only scattered signs of pickups in wages and no broad rise in inflation.

The Fed's periodic Beige Book report, looking at coast-to-coast business activity, described the economy as strong but running up against constraints from shortages of
labor and some supplies such as home-construction materials."

[GREENSPAN RESIGNATION

I agree with you. (This is a first for a political agreement).

If Congress and the President ignore Greenspan's warnings, why should he stay? Why would he want to get caught up in the political mess? He's done a great job! Why watch all his work go down the drain at election time.

I believe the Government surplus should be used to repair our infrastructure. Social Security needs to be shored up. Education needs money. There was an article in NY Times last week about shortage of physicists. It's no secret Bill Gates goes to India to get Engineers to work for MSFT.

I know you like Regan but I believe he destroyed the very fine University of California which has many branches.

I'd also like to see some of the surplus go to school districts to help with construction and maintenance. I'd like to see our property taxes stabilize. That would help everyone who owns property regardless of the number of kids that they have.

Also, our National parks are in a horrible state of disrepair. Raw sewage seeping into the ground at Yellowstone. Parks people don't have the money to hire more Rangers or pay for repairs. Although I don't have kids, I believe we should preserve our National Parks for future generations.

Just some thoughts!
