DVD Player Sales Sizzling - 8/10/99
The statistics for DVD player sales are in. For the week ending July 30, 1999, DVD player sales reached 189,595, a 373.3 percent increase from last year. Projection television sales were also on the rise totaling 45,865, a 21.1 percent increase from last year. Month-to-date DVD player sales were 325,151, a 283.8 percent increase, yielding a year-to-date running total of 1,611,631, an increase of 346.4 percent. Projection television sales were not so hot for the month of July, having reached 89,060, a mere 0.5 percent increase; however, year-to-date sales have climbed to 559,768, a 12.9 percent.
