Do you think lust and desire are the same? And how do they fit in with your concept of love? For me, love is an amalgam of emotions that may have a component of desire but desire is not necessary. Desire is yearning. And lust is obsessive yearning or mindless yearning. Desire could be mindless too- but I would feel the need to qualify it by saying "mindless desire" if that was what I meant. It is all semantics- and of course the connotations of lust do come from the Church, but they remain connotations even if one is a-religious.
