Pat, Re: your post on IBM getting? into networks and telcos:
Take a look of this. What's IBM up to?
GAITHERSBURG, Maryland: IBM testing center.
( this is the first I've heard of this )
What do you think?
TA
PS: note the cospicuous abscence in the testing center of Ernest &Young, Anderson consulting, KPMG, INS, Waterhouse etc. I think they must have put a sign on the door: "only engineers allowed. " Is that a good idea? :8-)

From today's IBD:
An interview with John Kelly III, general manager of IBM Corp.'s Microelectronics Division.:
IBD: What's your top priority?
Kelly: To complete the integration of various pieces of design IP (intellectual property) into our product portfolio. For example, in wired communications infrastructure - the backbone of the Internet - we're aggressively drawing on the intellectual property of the (IBM) Network Hardware Division to bring together network processors and ATM (asynchronous transfer mode) switches. These are things our customers are clamoring for. My top priority is to get that IP into the market as quickly as I can.
I like the "clamoring for" part.
