This has not been a good day. I really covered myself with shame earlier (around noon), when I did a telephone interview for radio (on the fighting in Dagestan -- if you know about that).
I was not feeling well, and my brain was all fuzzy. I had prepared, more or less, how I was going to answer the questions I expected. Well, I got lost on the first question...I got tangled up in a sentence I couldn't end...Then I said uhh....uhhh...(At this point, I can hear panicked silence on the other end of the line...)..And I was just going to say: "Oops, let's start over from the beginning!" -- when I realized -- it was a live broadcast!! It was taking place right there in the studio! In other words, they were not taping it, and so would not be able to edit out the bad parts, the stumbles, the uhhhhs, the grammatical mistakes, in advance of the show!!
Disgraced forever!!!!
