Starfire drilling on Big Maxx begins Starfire Minerals Inc SFR Shares issued 5,547,803 Aug 10 close $0.23 Wed 11 Aug 99 News Release Mr. Michael Caron reports Drilling has begun on the Big Maxx property in Geikie Township, Porcupine mining division, Ont. Geophysics are similar to the Texmont deposit, six kilometres to the north. The geophysical response suggests the possible presence of disseminated sulphides at depth adjacent to ultramafic units which may be in contact with rhyolite or volcanic breccias. The structural setting near fault intersections along with the coincidental IP and VLF-EM anomalies within a suitable geological setting indicates that the property is a prime exploration target. Several other conductors also occur on the property and the main response indicates a setting like the historic Kidd Creek deposit discovered in 1963. The Kidd Creek mine contains one of the world's largest base-metal deposits with historical production and current reserves of approximately 160 million tons of mineable ore remaining.
