1) #91. Could I PLEASE get a t-shirt? I'd wear it with such pride! (XL)

2) My story . . .

"Etrade does NOT suck!"

My first exposure to GNET was through the local newspapers. After keeping money in savings accounts for years (and earning virtually nothing) I was becoming increasingly agitated with all the articles reporting on explosive I-net stocks, and in particular, GNET. So I decided to set up an Etrade account and buy some GNET, which at the time was near it's $199 high. But I KNEW it would go much higher. Being uninitiated, I was sure that my account would be set up within hours. What I found out was that it actually took days, and during this time, GNET dropped daily. All this while, I was chomping at the bit, cursing Etrade, continuing to believe that GNET would skyrocket at any moment. Finally, my account was open and I took a small position, at 136. I watched it drop to $90, during which time I also discovered SI. Based on the help and insight I received from lurking on SI, I had the presence of mind to buy enough at $95 to lower my cost basis to $100.

The significance of this (seemingly trivial) story is that first experiences can make or break you. If I had bought near $199, I might still be waiting to make a profit, and the whole experience might seem rather dismal. But thanks to SI and Etrade, I have a better story to tell. I follow the "Etrade sucks!" thread, but you won't find me posting there - despite continual problems, they are the reason my first (and all-important) investment was a success!
