Wed 11 Aug 99 News Release
Mr. Gordon Ross reports
As part of a mainstream channel strategy, Net Nanny Software International
Inc. (OTCBB: NNSWF) continues to reach into top retail outlets this week by
announcing a sales arrangement with Kmart Corporation (NYSE: KM). One of
the largest and most familiar discount retail chains in the United States,
Kmart will offer the industry-leading child protection software, Net Nanny*
v.3.1.for $21.95 (U.S.), through the company's on-line store at
www.kmart.com. Net Nanny officials indicate that the arrangement will
continue for an open-ended period of time.
Kmart customers will now have the convenience of going to the on-line
store, selecting the software selections button, and purchasing a boxed
copy of Net Nanny on-line. Once they complete the electronic transaction,
the software is delivered to their door within a week by the shipping
methods they choose.
"We are extremely pleased with this development," said Gordon Ross, chief
executive officer and president of Net Nanny Software International Inc.,
"Net Nanny has always focused on the family, by offering products that
allow parents to reliably protect their children and maintain privacy. The
fact that Kmart is a prominent, family-oriented retailer is attractive to
us and we feel that the demographic that they serve is a natural fit.
Digital River is doing an excellent job finding great online sales
opportunities for our products."
One of Net Nanny's longest-running and most important sales partners,
Digital River (Nasdaq:DRIV), the largest source of digital products on the
Internet, helped expedite the arrangement through its "Channel Marketing
Group." Digital River leverages its relationships with large on-line stores
(such as Kmart) to bring top-selling and popular brands to their buying
audience. They will manage all of the back-end on-line processing and
e-commerce transactions for Kmart's online storefront. "We have enjoyed a
long-standing relationship with both Net Nanny and Kmart," said Joel
Ronning, chief executive officer of Digital River. "Net Nanny's solid
brand, good reputation and excellent products are a logical choice for
Kmart's on-line store. Our Channel Marketing Group specializes in
facilitating arrangements like this and we are looking forward to
continuing to match key products such as Net Nanny with appropriate sales
outlets."
Through Digital River's Channel Marketing Group, Net Nanny will also be
listed in the CompUSA on-line store, Zones and Outpost.com -- other venues
that will help give Net Nanny excellent exposure.
Digital River Inc., based in Minneapolis, is the largest on-line source of
software and a leading outsource provider of Web-based commerce solutions.
The company provides more than 5,000 software publishers and on-line
retailers with its proprietary technology for Internet delivery of more
than 100,000 digital products, including 30,000 software products and
applications.
WARNING: The company relies on litigation protection for "forward-looking"
