PRI Receives TSMC Fab 6 Plant-Wide Automation Order
BILLERICA, Mass., Aug. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- PRI Automation, Inc. (Nasdaq: PRIA), the leader in semiconductor factory automation, today announced it has been chosen by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (TSMC), the world's largest semiconductor foundry, to install a multi-million dollar, plant-wide automation solution for their new Fab 6 located in the Tainan Science-based Industrial Park.

"We are pleased that TSMC has chosen PRI to supply the components of a comprehensive wafer logistics management solution for Fab 6," commented Mitch Tyson, president and chief executive officer of PRI Automation. "This is another major order from the semiconductor foundry market in recent weeks and continues our leadership in this most demanding of manufacturing environments. In addition, this is an indication of the upswing in the semiconductor market place and the continued strength in our bookings."

"We chose to work with PRI on our Fab 6 project because they understand more about our complex manufacturing requirements and the need for maximum flexibility," noted Mr. YC Chao, TSMC fab director of Fab 6.

The fab-wide automation project is for the installation of TurboStockers, Reticle Stockers, AeroTrak(TM), the TransNet(TM) material control system and PROMIS(R) software as the manufacturing execution system. The combination of these products provides important work-in-progress storage, flow and tracking capabilities for a foundry with a highly diverse product line.
