Jeff,
Re: Eric and all, I just ran across this article that suggest the major growth areas in the near term will be server and router suppliers. I know CSCO deals with routers. Can you offer any other companies in the server/router business? Thanks,
A piece of the article on bandwidth demand growing 3 times as fast as the supply:
It also looked at how advances in server technology with the release of the Pentium III chip will impact the bandwidth gap. Either way, said Gary Schultz, Multimedia Research president, there is "no way to provide enough servers at a central location" to satisfy demand.
Your question about other companies in the router/servers business, taking off from the fact that they mentioned the Pentium III. First, I assume you mean other to mean other than Cisco. Good. Cisco is #1 purveyor of Internet expansion. Pentium III is of course Intel. Top companies that make servers from PIII are IBM, HP, Dell, Compaq, not necessarily in that order. Briand mentioned Sun, EMC and NTAP. No doubt they also are prospering. Sun for Unix (Solaris) based servers; EMC and NTAP for storage.
Of the companies mentioned, I'm partial to Cisco, Intel and EMC. I'd like to buy IBM if/when they come down some in price.
