Alcatel (SBF:CGEP) gets MCI European cable contract

PARIS, Aug 12 (Reuters) - French telecoms equipment company
Alcatel (SBF:CGEP) said on Thursday it had won a contract worth
about 10 million euros ($10.64 million) as sole supplier of
fibre optic cable for one year to a subsidiary of MCI (NASDAQ:WCOM).
The MCI subsidiary is currently installing and operating
networks in the Benelux countries, France, Germany, Ireland,
Sweden, Switzerland and Britain, it said in a statement.
