Rocky Mountain Prepares to Access Huge China Honey Market

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 12, 1999-- Each year China consumes 60,000 metric tons of honey.

Studies show that consumption is rising annually. Fujian Province, home of Rocky Mountain's China operations (a division of Rocky Mountain Ginseng, Inc. -- (OTC BB:RMGG)) consumes 1000 tons annually. The province imports 1/3 of its requirements from overseas and elsewhere in China.

It appears, however, there is much fake honey in the marketplace (mixtures of sugar, water and a little honey). Consumers are becoming more wary and prudent in their honey purchasing. Rocky Mountain is in the process of taking advantage of this opportunity. The recent merger of its China operations enables it to import quality product from Canada, process it in China, and market it in a prestigious package in China.

Test markets in Shanghai and Fuzhou for 100% pure Canadian honey and ginseng in honey have been very positive. The company will also be marketing its products only in a creamed form to assure the consumer it is not a fake product.

State-of-the-art processing equipment from North America has arrived at its Fuzhou factory and a prominent local food processing engineering company has been retained to install and commission same. Full-scale production should commence in October.
