No, not really. While Astrology is the study of the heavens and their movements' affects on our planet, Astronomy is simply the study of the heavens and does not apply inversely to our own planet.

I do not derive from the generality that I was born in March that I will hate a certain time of the year any different than someone born under a different sign. This theory is simply easy to disprove(as a ratio to just better than chance to reality will clearly show it incorrect nearly 2/3rds of the time).

I'll buy cycles existing, but do not agree that solar bodies are anything other than a measure(and a poor one at that). They are not the cause in other words. So, to answer your question "Isn't this the point of astrology, the astronomy behind it? " I would have to say NO.
