Pat I wonder if IBMs plan isn't the following:
a) amass a giant testing center in Gaithersburgh, Md. to test everything from PCs, servers, switches over networks
for qos and reliability. These hardware/software combination will be from all vendors, including networkers.

b)Once the compatibilities are determined, then allow any solution integrator arrange for the financing etc etc.

Take a look at IBMs capitalization relative to their revenue and income.

What it tells me is that IBM is quite underpriced relative to their revenue and income
and will have tremendous cash flow to pay for all kinds of compatibility/reliability experiments at Gaithersburgh.

Ultimately reliability will be critical. EBay was severely wounded during their outage. Excite@Home and MCI took hits.
As the amount of data starts floating around the web in staggering proportions with multi-vendors/competitors muscling in the bottom
line will be quality of service and reliablity.

So far I am not aware of any outages/breakdowns with NN equipment. Are you?
